Mr. Hughes obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1972, and obtained his Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1975. In 1983 he graduated from the Whittier School College of Law in Los Angeles, California and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree. He is a present member of the Weld County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and is Past President of the Kiwanis Club of the Rockies.

Mr. Hughes' primary areas of practice are corporations, partnerships and business, bankruptcy, collections and foreclosures, domestic relations, and wills, trust and estate administration. Mr. Hughes represents several banks and other financial institutions and many businesses, and for twelve years was counsel for students at the University of Northern Colorado.
